Follow the Money
It is a crying shame that the beauty of art and its reputation is being distorted, besmirched and in some cases destroyed. You may question my reason for this reaction and so you should. After you read the article Follow the Money authored by attorney and writer Gail Christensen, you will no doubt react similarly. Unfortunately a growing number of large companies dealing in art are nefariously greasing the palms of too easily swayed politicians whose only quest is for money and more of it. And all of this is at the expense of the art world. The truth is that this is going on right under the public’s nose and we must not ignore the threat it poses. As you have probably noted that some businesses such as Park West Gallery and Park West at Sea have had numerous complaints of late as to the misrepresentation of the art work they have been selling. The television news show, Inside Edition has completed an investigation of them and recently reported it on their program. These galleries have sold what they insist was investment quality art to the unsuspecting at enormously inflated prices. The victim finds out too late that they have been taken, in some cases, for many thousands of dollars with little or no recourse.
In this explosive, investigative article you will learn how these criminals, yes and I do mean crooks are using the government, both State and Federal, to assist them in fleecing the unknowing public. Exposing this information for the first time, the author follows the trail of money, naming names and informing us of where to dig for this information on our own. The results are startling and disturbing at the least.
It will take a concerted effort on our part as citizens to put a stop to this injustice. There are strict laws in some states that regulate such practices, but unfortunately they are very few. I am indignant that such dealings are being perpetrated or at the very least being protected by our supposedly revered elected officials. After reading the article at www.fineartregistry.com, I have a notion that you will be stirred as well. The article also tells you what you can do about it in your own local area.
