There are times in life when you intuitively perceive that you are in the presence of someone that radiates an aura of artistic genius. An artistic soul that has tasted the wine of life, both wonderfully sweet and unbearably bitter, experiences that explode on the canvas of PEREZ!
Alex Perez was born in Santiago - Chile in 1946 and now lives in Viņa del Mar - Chile.
He was born into a family of four generations of artists and was immersed in the arts. As he so aptly describes his youth "I was born in a studio and all my home childhood was surrounded by art, all kind of arts, artists and intellectuals." After graduating from the 'Academy of Fine Arts' in Santiago, he worked in his father's studio, the Ibero-Chilean painter, Eduardo Perez, where he acquired most of his artistic knowledge and skills. He also studied art in Israel.

Alex sold his first painting when he was 14 years of age while at an art fair in Santiago, Chile, where his father was exhibiting his paintings. From childhood he saw painting and art as his family's main activity. The majority of his paintings have been sold to collectors in the USA. He values and is inspired by the Baroque "old masters", the Impressionists and the late 19th and early 20th Century Realist painters. Considering Alex's keen intellect, he could have chosen whatever career he wanted to pursue, but in the end he chose painting. Because of this decision, the world of art has been and continues to be richly rewarded beyond measure.
Perez expresses his own artistic passion and "joie de vivre" by recording nature on canvas, the shifting of light as day progresses from dawn to dusk and back again, the vividness of his colors breathing life and vitality into his canvas adding a romantic realism approach and reflecting a peaceful and harmonious ambience, as a means of transporting the viewer to a serene and contemplative visual experience.

Numerous techniques are employed to create his work: oils, acrylics, watercolors, drawings, engravings, prints and murals. His fine art also includes works of stained glass and sculpture in stone.
He has exhibited all over the world, and his works are included in private and public collections in the United States, Canada, Europe, Israel, South America and Japan.

Perez sends this important message to the world:
"I'm a perfectionist without patience, I do not take the art of painting as a matter of "live or die". I was perfectly able to enter into any other profession. In my case it was just a matter of commodity and circumstances, but in the end I prefer to be a painter artist. If I had not chosen painting, perhaps I would have been an actor, preferably a satiric one. I extremely love humor. Humor fascinates me in all mediums of expression. I pity people without humor they lose an important quality and healthy human activity."
Alex views his art as an obsession, something that he must do, an all consuming addiction. This applies not only to painting but his entire being, his inward world and the beauty of the world around him that he feels he must interpret. He expresses this need even when it does not refer to art but a deep passion to share things or events with others. His thoughts are that he is just a common man on this earth that paints and if he is not able to paint, he speaks and writes about the beauty around him. He also feels that expressing his opinion is also an art, especially when it is expressed in a constructive and positive way. Painting is only one way of communicating the sublime beauty around him.

Rigid fundamentals are not part of the Perez perspective; however his strong belief in human rights and respect of the individual human being is vital to him as a universal citizen. His vitriol hatred of lies and idleness is quite evident. Perez states; "I hate the bad treatment between the human beings themselves and the treatment of animals. In general the evil and idiot behavior that humans do to the environment, these are the only things in my life that I can call "I hate" and don't see and look at them with my artist's eyes." This statement alone appears to be the very reason that Alex does not include people in his landscape paintings.
Perez does not feel a great deal of optimism for professional artists and their ability to make a decent living solely from their art. At this time he markets his art himself on his website; www.a-perez.com, on his blog and his YouTube video channel. He has had success in the past with a number of gallery exhibitions and expo participations in the Middle East, Far East and the USA. This occurred in the years between 1977 and 1995.

He has found that most of his success has come from the several private commissions he receives regularly. Beginning in 1993 to the present his large list of private collectors and devoted buyers have contributed greatly to his achievements.

Perez also states:
